New diagnostic and therapeutic approach for EB (Epidermolysis bullosa) patients with skin cancer risk: in-vitro experiments about selective photosensitizer accumulation in EB tumor models

Aim of the project is to detect (pre-)cancerous lesions by fluorescence diagnosis in EB patients and to treat them by photodynamic tumor therapy, using hypericin or endogenously formed protoporphyrin IX as photosensitizers. In vitro experiments shall prepare this approach. Since inflammation may influence the diagnostic values, all investigation should be carried out under pro-inflammatory conditions.
