Galen und die Grenzen des medizinischen Erzählens Während die Praxis des Erzählens und die literarische Form der Erzählung in den letzten Jahrzehnten von Narratologen und Anthropologen auch in den antiken Kulturen gründlich erforscht wurden, hat man den Bereich der Wissenschaften meist übergangen, modern oder antik. Und doch wissen wir, dass moderne Wissenschaftler durchaus erzählen; man denke nur an das Genre der Anekdote oder Freuds Fallgeschichten. Dasselbe gilt für griechische Wissenschaftsautoren: Anhand einer zugegebenermaßen speziellen Textgruppe, der griechischen medizinischen Literatur vom Corpus Hippocraticum bis Galen, zeigt der Vortrag mit wenigen Beispielen, dass und wie griechische Medizinautoren (Epidemien, Aristoteles, Rufus von Ephesus, Aelius Aristeides, Galen) erzählen. Es geht einerseits um formale Fragen der Literatur- und Wissenschaftsgeschichte (Was ist eigentlich medizinisches Erzählen? Welche Ausprägungen gibt es?), andererseits darum, was die Autoren mit ihren Erzählungen bezwecken. Besonders interessant ist Galen, der sich als vorbildlicher Wissenschaftserzähler erweist.SR E.3317:00 o’clock
