Prior to mobility
Step 1:
Initial contact with the partner institution and agreement on the planned activity
(Staff Training and Teaching)
Step 2:
Complete the Mobility Agreement in full
(The document must be signed by the applicant, their supervisor at the University of Salzburg, and the contact person at the partner institution.)

Step 3:
Send the completed Mobility Agreement to Katharina Niedermayr:
Step 4:
Once your Mobility Agreement has been successfully reviewed, you will receive an email with a Grant Agreement regarding the planned activity.
Step 5:
Apply for leave of absence for the duration of the stay
– Academic staff: via PLUS Online under Personal Self Service
– Non-academic staff: fill out the leave of absence application form, sign it, and have it signed by your supervisor. Then send it by email to:

Step 6:
Submit proof of approved leave of absence to
– Academic staff: forward the automatically generated email confirmation
– Non-academic staff: send the signed form returned by the HR department

During the stay
The “Letter of Confirmation” form must be signed and stamped by the partner institution.

All original receipts (for travel and accommodation expenses) must be kept and submitted after the trip to the International Relations Office, attn. Katharina Niedermayr.

After the stay
Step 1:
Evaluation:
Complete the Erasmus+ survey. The applicant will automatically receive an email with the request to fill it out.
Step 2:
Submit the following documents via internal mail to the International Relations Office, attn. Katharina Niedermayr:
The completed and signed “Letter of Confirmation” (original)
A detailed breakdown of travel expenses using the following form: Abrechnungsformular für Reisen im Rahmen von Erasmus+ KA 131
including all original receipts for the submitted costs.
– If a meal was provided during the stay, this must be indicated in the travel expense form!
Step 3:
After the documents have been reviewed, they will be forwarded to the HR department.
The reimbursable costs and daily allowance will be transferred to your salary account.

STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING PURPOSES (STA)
Teaching staff at PLUS can teach at a partner university abroad.
Goals & Benefits:
Gain teaching experience in an international context
Develop joint study programs with partner institutions
Strengthen intercultural competence
Establish and expand cross-border networks and partnership projects
STAFF MOBILITY FOR TRAINING PURPOSES (STT)
Academic and administrative staff at PLUS can participate in training activities abroad.
Goals & Benefits:
Enhance personal skills and professional exchange
Strengthen intercultural competence
Promote professional and personal development
Establish and expand international networks -
What is funded?
Erasmus+ Training Mobility – Staff Mobility for Training (STT)
Examples include:
~ Job shadowing
~ Participation in staff weeks
~ Attendance of language courses
~ For teaching staff: training and further development of pedagogical skills or curriculum development competencies
No Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) required – the host institution can be freely chosen.
Participation in conferences and research projects is not eligible for funding.
Participation fees cannot be funded. -
How much financial support is provided?
Travel and accommodation costs are reimbursed.
In addition, participants receive a daily allowance, which varies depending on the host country (approximately € 20–30 per day). -
Where can I go?
Programmländer. EU-Mitgliedstaaten sowie folgende assoziierte Drittstaaten: Norwegen, Island, Liechtenstein, Nordmazedonien, Serbien und Türkei.
Alle CIVIS-Partneruniversitäten sind teilnahmeberechtigt. -
Who is eligible to apply?
All academic and administrative staff at the University of Salzburg (PLUS) are eligible to apply for Erasmus+ Staff Mobility:
For Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA):
Academic staff involved in teaching activities.
For Staff Mobility for Training (STT):
Both academic and administrative staff, regardless of position or department.
Temporary and part-time staff may also be eligible, depending on their contract and approval by their supervisor. -
How long is the duration of stay?
The duration of an Erasmus+ staff mobility stay typically ranges from 2 to 60 days (excluding travel days).
For teaching mobility (STA): a minimum of 2 days and a teaching load of at least 8 hours (for stays up to 7 days) is required.
For training mobility (STT): the minimum stay is also 2 days.
Longer stays are possible, but funding is usually limited to a certain number of days based on Erasmus+ guidelines and budget availability. -
Is participation in conferences and research projects funded?

Are participation fees funded?
NO -
Is an Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement (iia) required?
✅ For Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA):
Yes.
An active Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement (iia) between the University of Salzburg and the host institution is required.
✅ For Staff Mobility for Training (STT):
No.
An Erasmus+ cooperation agreement is not required.
The host institution can be freely chosen, as long as it is located in an Erasmus+ programme country and agrees to host the training activity.
