My fascination with science began early and led me to pursue a BSc in Bioengineering with a specialization in Applied Biotechnology at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Budapest, where I graduated in 2021. During my bachelor’s studies, I spent one semester abroad through the Erasmus program at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. I continued my education with a Master’s degree in Medical Biology at the University of Salzburg, which I completed in 2025. Alongside my academic studies, I consistently worked in professional settings to gain hands-on experience. I spent two years as a laboratory analyst at EGIS, a leading pharmaceutical company and part of the Servier Group, where I honed my analytical skills. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I joined Pharmgenetix, an innovative molecular diagnostics startup focused on personalized medicine. Over the course of more than three years, I worked there as a laboratory technician, contributing to both routine analytics and research projects. I also conducted the research for my Master’s thesis at Pharmgenetix, titled “Investigation of the Functional Consequences of CYP2D6 Promoter Polymorphisms on Gene Expression.”.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in 2016 from the Munich University of Applied Sciences. During his bachelor thesis, he worked at the Institute for Translational Cardiac Surgery at the German Heart Centre Munich, where he focused on investigating the direct reprogramming of murine primary fibroblasts into induced cardiac progenitor cells. For his Master’s studies, Paul moved to the Technical University of Munich, completing a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Molecular Biotechnology in 2024. As part of his academic journey, he undertook a six-month industrial internship in the Cell Technologies department at Roche in Penzberg and participated in a semester abroad at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. His master thesis was conducted at the Institute of Molecular Oncology and Functional Genomics at TranslaTUM, where he worked on validating a CasRx-based lncRNA screening platform. In 2025, Paul joined Silja Weßler’s group, where his research focuses on developing organoid-based advanced infection models for carcinogenic pathogens.
