Participation in residential care in the province of Salzburg
The research project – designed as an exploratory study – aims to collect initial empirical data to shed light on the current status quo in socio-pedagogical residential units of child and youth welfare services in the province of Salzburg. Participation as a quality feature is to be used here as a broad focus to highlight various dimensions, potentials and limits of participatory structures. The study is based on FICE Austria’s cross-organisational and cross-provincial standards for child and youth welfare, whose quality characteristics serve as a guide. The focus of the study is aimed at capturing the perspectives of the main actors in the field, i.e. both the professionals and the addressees / children and young people in out-of-home care. On the one hand, the perspective of the professionals with regard to the framework conditions, qualification requirements and implementation strategies in daily practice is to be collected (online survey). On the other hand, the perspective of the addressees will also be taken into account in order to gain insights into possible production and negotiation processes of participation structures and their complex conditional structures (group discussions).
