The Department of Educational Science was founded in 1964 and is part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Salzburg.  About 15 scientific and three non- scientific staff work in the department. These, together with support from external lecturers, oversee about 800 students in the Bachelors program (Pedagogics) and about 200 Students in the Master’s program (Educational Science). In addition there are 50 Doctoral Students at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities studying in the field of Educational Science. The department also hosts two study programmes: Pre-School/Nursery Education and Psychotherapeutic preparatory  course (Propädeutikum). The diverse areas of research are orientated around five main areas.

Head of Department

Since the 1st of October 2015, the Department has been led by Dr. Burkhard Gniewosz, PhD. His deputies are Dr. Andreas Paschon and Dr. Wassilios Baros, PhD.

Administration

The departmental office is run by Christina Maria Maierhofer-Reisch.  Students should address their concerns to Margret Eder-Neuhauser und Christina Weissenbach in the Office for Student Affairs.
