Target level
Students can deal with everyday situations linguistically in the university environment. This means that they can: • Understand the main points in complex oral presentations on concrete and abstract topics as well as • understand specialist discussions in their own area of expertise. • Follow longer speeches and complex arguments, as well as • use comprehension strategies in order to support understanding. They can • Read independently and • adapt reading style and tempo to different texts and purposes, • take information from sources in their own field of study and • understand specialist articles beyond their own fields of study. They can • Comment coherently on topics from university and their general daily lives both verbally and in writing and at the same time • weigh up information and arguments against each other. They are also able to adequately culturally assess formal and informal contexts and adapt their language use to the context. They can • Write an essay or a report, in which something is discussed systematically, • give a presentation with differing points of view, and • respond and react spontaneously to questions. • Summarise, discuss and comment on a wide range of texts, • understand a lecture on a familiar topic and • make notes on the most important points. The students have a command of basic working techniques and can, for example, use dictionaries and technical aids in an efficient and targeted manner and thereby opening up new specialist areas. They have learning and work strategies that enable them to better understand and structure information.
