CULTURAL SUMMER EXCHANGE (HKUSI CSE) FELLOWSHIP 2023
The University of Hong Kong Summer Institute (HKUSI) offers a Fellowship Programme “Cultural Summer Exchange (HKUSI CSE) Fellowship 2023” to invite students of the world’s leading universities to join and become CSE Fellows to teach in Hong Kong during the summer holidays in 2023. The CSE programme provides the perfect platform for selected Fellows to teach their self-designed curriculum to Primary 6 to Secondary 2 school students, which includes cross-cultural lessons that encourages intellectual and cultural exchange amongst all participants. In addition, Fellows will take part in various cultural activities in Hong Kong arranged by HKUSI.
The program offers participants the opportunity to build their networks among all Fellows as well as enjoy to their visit to Hong Kong.

Waseda University Summer Session 2023
Waseda University started a four-weeks summer session in 2014.
in 2023 participants will choose 2 from 14 courses such as literature and art, business, culture, economics, history, politics and sociology in the context of Japan and Asia pacific, and can earn 4 credits. The classes are taught in English by the experienced faculty members. Also extracurricular activities such as field trips, site visits and cultural events to experience Tokyo and Japan will be organised!

Fudan University International Summer Session 2023
Fudan University is one of the best universities in China, which is located in Shanghai. The 4-week summer session offers 25 content courses taught in English, 2 PE courses, and 3 Chinese language courses at different levels.
The timeline of the program is as follows:
– Application deadline is June 08;
– Course enrollment system will be open in May;
– Tuition payment will be made until June 23;
– Courses will start on July 05 and end on August 01

Kyoto Intensive Japanese Summer Program
The “Kyoto Intensive Japanese Program 2023” is offered by a partner university of PLUS in Japan, the famous Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (“KUFS”).The program is designed for students who wish to improve their Japanese proficiency while participating in group works with KUFS students and experiencing Japanese culture in Kyoto — an attractive, historical city and college town.

Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese Studies
This program is aimed at foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors (including post-doctoral researchers) and doctoral candidates in departments related to Chinese studies at foreign universities, as well as researchers at related foreign academic institutes. The research should be undertaken in Taiwan, and be focused mainly on Taiwan or Chinese studies.
Research tenure: one month to one year.
Application Deadline: May 31st, 2023 (notification of CCS’s decision will be given by the end of August 2023)
Applications should include the following documents:

Subsidies under the Research Grant Program are as follows:
- Travel subsidies: One direct round trip economy class air ticket from the domicile of the grantee to Taipei will be provided by the CCS. Travel expenses will be reimbursed upon the grantee’s arrival in Taiwan on the basis of the ticket stub and receipt.
- Research subsidies: To be paid at the beginning of each month and divided into four levels
Full Professor: NT$ 60,000
Associate Professor: NT﹩50,000
Assistant Professor: NT﹩40,000
Doctoral Candidate: NT﹩40,000
Grantees must sign a contract with CCS and observe the following regulations:
1) No outside employment is allowed without the prior approval of CCS. Concurrent acceptance of a grant from any other organization in the R.O.C. is not permitted.
2) Participation in all scholarly research activities arranged by CCS is required.
3) All regulations must be observed when using CCS and National Central Library facilities.
4) A research report or paper must be submitted to CCS by the end of a grantee’s research tenure.

HKU Summer Institute 2023 – New programmes “Multiple-Location Summer Camps”
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce the two upcoming Multiple-Location Summer Camps organized by the HKUSI, which we believe you may have already heard about.
Themed around Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the two summer camps will take place across 4 universities in Asia and provide students with the opportunity to network in an intercultural environment. They will engage in contemporary sustainability topics and learn from fellow students with diverse backgrounds. We believe that these camps will offer a valuable learning experience for the participating students. Please find below information on the programmes:
Connecting Asia for a Sustainable Future – Joint Summer Camp in Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan [In collaboration with Chulalongkorn University and Hokkaido University]

Chinese Center For Language Education and Cooperation Sommercamp
The application requirements are:
1. Students (including high school students) aged 18 to 30 years
2. Austrian citizenship, parents’ native language is not Chinese
3. Required Chinese language proficiency with HSK- 4 certificate
Cost: All costs for the stay in China and about half of the international airfare will be covered by Center For Language Education and Cooperation. Fees for visas and insurance during the trip are the responsibility of the participants.
