Information for students

The following list provides a number of support services for students at PLUS

  • Working Group on Equal Opportunities

The Working Group on Equal Opportunities (Arbeitskreis für Gleichbehandlungsfragen – AKG) supports the PLUS in all measures taken to promote equal opportunities and prevent discrimination.

The AKG is represented in all appointment and habilitation committees as well as faculty and department councils and attends all job interviews with prospective employees.

The AKG offers advice and guidance for all members of the PLUS who experience or witness discrimination.

If you suspect that you are being discriminated against because of your gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation, the AKG can offer help and advice.

You can email us, call us, or come to a consultation during office opening hours. During our first meeting (online, over the phone or in person), we will listen to your explanation of the situation, make a note of all the facts and outline further options. Together we will work out strategies on how to proceed and discuss possible further steps.

Any steps taken will be discussed with you first. No measures will be taken without your consent.

All consultations are strictly confidential and can be held anonymously.

  • Student Counselling Service

Our Psychological Counselling Service helps you to choose and start your university studies, assists you in your personal development and provides guidance for academic and personal challenges.

We offer support if you are thinking about changing your field of studies or dropping out of university. In addition, we provide resources on different study techniques and on how to stay focused and motivated.

Counselling sessions are confidential, free of charge and – if you prefer – held anonymously. All our counsellors are licensed psychologists and psychotherapists.

After a first introductory session we will mutually decide which of our services is the best fit for you. Due to limited resources, we are unable to offer long-term counselling. However, we do provide support in finding a psychotherapist if necessary.
