What will I learn?
The MA degree programme in Political Science, which is taught in English, is aimed at BA graduates who plan to deepen the knowledge of political science and its methods they have acquired during their BA degree programme. Students can focus on the subject areas of Democracy and Legitimacy; Comparative Political Science; Politics on Multiple Levels: Austria and Europe; and International Relations. Students will be systematically introduced to two of these subject areas in their scientific research. Along with imparting professional and methodical skills, the aim of the programme is to enable students to develop innovative research questions, to compose written works which are theoretically and methodically profound, as well as to analyse complex political issues independently and to name and justify practical procedures of solution.

What makes Salzburg so special as a place to study?
At the University of Salzburg, MA students do not only profit from their chosen research emphases, but also from the high quality of teaching, the cooperation with the Salzburg Centre for European Union Studies (SCEUS), and the department’s and its staff’s international networks. More good reasons to enrol on the MA degree programme in Political Science in Salzburg are the flexible, individual organisation of the programme, small seminar groups, close supervision and an appealing and central location.

Which career opportunities do I have?
The MA degree programme in Political Science prepares students for an academic career, but it also opens up a wide variety of career options beyond university. Graduates are especially qualified for responsible tasks in public administration, lobbying and non-government organizations (NGOs), in the field of PR and foreign ministries.
