What will I learn?
The MSc degree course in Psycho-, Neuro- & Clinical Linguistics introduces students to the current state of the discipline’s research. Students can specialize in one of the two main areas (Psycholinguistics/Neurolinguistics or Clinical Linguistics). Graduates will be skilled to evaluate linguistics facts, to apply adequate methods, and to gain and analyse data. Furthermore, they are experts in language technology and in theoretical modelling. Students who specialize in the area of Clinical Linguistics will acquire fundamental theoretical and professional knowledge, methods and skills. Paired with practical experience, these provide the foundation for a scientifically sound speech therapy in the fields of specific clinical pictures. With these fundamental skills, graduates will be able to act in a responsible, evidence-based, speech-therapeutical way, and to continue their professional further education independently.

Which career opportunities do I have?
Due to the large number of linguistic research areas and fields of application, linguists can choose from a wide range of occupations and there is no standard career. Occupations for Linguistics graduates include an academic career, adult education, language and communication technology (e.g., in governmental/private institutes of education, in publishing companies, enterprises for medical technology), pre-school language classes. In combination with a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, the specialization in Clinical Linguistics leads to a degree qualifying for a profession, which corresponds with the minimum requirements for a health insurance scheme accreditation for speech therapy in Germany according to the recommendations for admission issued by the responsible central organisation of health insurances (GKV) for health care providers of remedies (version from 07.03.2016).
