Code of Conduct
The Winter School on Proteases and Their Inhibitors (hereafter referred to as the ‘Winter School’, or ‘WS’) has adopted a Code of Conduct based on the Code of Conduct for Gordon Research Conferences and Seminars ( https://www.grc.org/code-of-conduct/).
The Winter School encourages open and honest intellectual debate to foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at every conference. The Winter School promotes the rigorous analysis of all science presented or discussed in a manner that respects all attendees. To maintain an open and respectful community of scientists, the Winter School does not tolerate any illegal or unprofessional behaviour at the conference venue. This includes violations of applicable laws, destruction of property, and harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment. Harassment includes epithets, slurs, derogatory jokes or comments and repeatedly contacting someone who has made it clear that they do not want to be contacted. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours, sexual assault and other unwelcome verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. The Winter School condemns any illegal or unprofessional acts or comments that discriminate against an individual on the basis of their sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, colour, religion, ethnicity, age or disability. Allegations of such behaviour are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in individuals being prohibited from attending in future.
Any problems should be reported to the Winter School organisers immediately (, , ) with details of the incident, those involved, supporting facts, and any witnesses. This will enable the organisers to properly assess the situation, seek a resolution, and address the problem, while being sensitive to the concerns of all those affected.
