Regional Educational Competence Center (RECC)Salzburg science didactics awarded by federal minister

On Friday, 18.5.2018, Federal Minister Faßmann awarded the Didactics of Natural Sciences (University of Salzburg – School of Education) for its high quality.The working group repeatedly received the award “Regional Educational Competence Center (RECC)”. Overall, the performance in biology, chemistry, geometric drawing/descriptive geometry, computer science, mathematics, media didactics and physics was honored here. The award is given for outstanding subject didactic research as well as education and training.Partners of the RECC Salzburg are the PH Salzburg Stefan Zweig and the Landesschulrat für Salzburg.The RECC Salzburg is headed by Timo Fleischer, Günter Maresch, Alexander Strahl and Jörg Zumbach.

Award of the AG Didactics of Physics

The School of Education AG Didactics of Physics of the University of Salzburg together with the PH Salzburg received the seal of approval “Regional Educational Competence Centre”, RECC for short.In addition to Biology and Environmental Studies, Computer Science and Geometry, Physics has now also been honored and received the RECC seal of approval. Ass.Prof. Dr. Alexander Strahl (SoE) submitted the project application together with M.A. Josef Kriegseisen (PH Salzburg).After a review process, the seal was awarded by Minister of Education Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek (see photo) on May 13, 2015. The reviews certify that RECC PS (Physics Didactics Salzburg) has a lot of potential in subject didactic research and development. To receive the seal of approval, the following criteria had to be fulfilled: high expertise in the field of subject didactic research, proven quality in education and training, promotion of young scientists, transfer of subject didactic knowledge, implementation of gender and diversity measures, networking between educational institutions and educational authorities, etc. The team of the RECCs PS (see photo) is not only trying to consolidate all points, but also to expand them.If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Alexander Strahl.

At a festive event on May 13, 2015, Minister of Education Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek awarded the quality label “Regional Educational Competence Center” (RECC) to seven Austrian educational institutions. The award recipients are subject didactics centers at teacher training colleges and universities that applied for the quality label in the form of cooperations. “It is central for modern educational institutions to have their finger on the pulse of scientific as well as social developments. The institutions awarded the quality label “Regional Educational Competence Center” demonstrate in an impressive way innovative cooperations between school practice, science and school authorities,” she said. A jury of experts selected the University of Salzburg and the PH Salzburg for the RECC quality label after review by international education experts.
