Library card
Would you like to apply for a library card? Here you will find all the necessary information.
Please note: Teaching staff, students, and employees do not need to apply for a card, as they will automatically receive an account. Your service card or student ID card also serves as your library card.
How can I apply for a library card and what do I need to do so?
- Applications can only be made online.
- Step 1: Fill out this application form completely.
- Step 2: Make a digital copy (e.g., photo) of a valid official photo ID and an official registration confirmation. For German citizens, a copy of the back of your ID card is sufficient as proof of registration.
- Step 3: Send the completed application form and copies of your photo ID and proof of residence to the following email address:
Please note: If applications are not legible, fully completed, and signed, or if copies of photo ID and proof of residence are missing, the application will not be processed and will be returned.
How do I obtain the login details for my library account?
- Within 48 hours of applying, you will receive an email with the login details for your library account.
- You can change the assigned password at https://password.sbg.ac.at.
- If you forget your password, you can assign a new one at Password Self Service Portal.
- Once you have received your login details, you will have a library account (a-number) and can order media via UBsearch.
- Once you have received your login details, you can have your library card issued at the main library (Hofstallgasse 2-4).
Where can I get my library card?
- The card is issued at the circulation desk of the main library (Hofstallgasse 2-4, 5020 Salzburg) and is available Monday through Friday.
- Please bring valid photo ID with you.
- The card can only be issued AFTER you have received your login details (by email).
