What will I learn?
The BSc degree course in Informatics offers a profound scientific education with a strong practical approach in the fields of information technologies and its areas of application. Informatics deals with the complex artificial systems for applications in almost all areas of life. In order to control these systems, i.e., to create, maintain and develop them, students will learn the theoretical and practical basics required to do so. These are, e.g., concepts of programming, the functional principles of digital computers, operating systems, networks and databases. Each of these principles depends on the respective formal foundations.

What makes Salzburg so special as a place to study?
In the BSc degree course in Informatics at the University of Salzburg, students acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also learn about methods and concepts independent from the technical state of the art. Thus, students will be excellently prepared for their future careers. The flexible module system allows students to gain qualifications in those areas they are interested in the most. Students learn to apply their theoretical competences practically when they set up realistic projects or spend work placements in the industry. An excellent student-to-staff ratio in one of the world’s cities with the highest quality of living round off the course’s profile.
