43rd European Muscle Conference
This page documents the 43rd European Muscle Conference (EMC 2014), organized by Stefan Galler and held in Salzburg, Austria, from 10 to 14 September 2014. The conference took place under the auspices of the European Society for Muscle Research (ESMR). As the Society’s annual meeting, the European Muscle Conference is one of the world’s leading conferences in muscle research.

Approximately 270 scientists from 30 countries across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia attended the conference, which was held at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Salzburg.

Scientific Program
The conference included 70 oral and 151 poster presentations covering a broad range of topics in muscle research, from molecular and cellular mechanisms to muscle physiology and disease.
Conference abstracts and articles were published in a special issue of the Journal of Muscle Research and Cell Motility, edited by Masataka Kawai (Iowa), Graham Lamb (Melbourne), and Stefan Galler (Salzburg).

Social Program
Concert in Salzburg Cathedral
As part of the conference program, a special concert featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was performed in Salzburg Cathedral. Musicians played from the cathedral balconies, creating distinctive stereophonic sound effects. The concert was sponsored by Franz Beckenbauer.
