The doctoral program Subject:Didactics:Research – Interdisciplinary Advancement of Subject-Specific Educational Research establishes an interdisciplinary framework for the targeted support of doctoral studies in subject didactics at the University of Salzburg. While subject-specific didactics have long been regarded primarily as mediating instances between academic disciplines and educational practice, they have since evolved into a distinct scientific field with its own research agenda. Today, they play a key role in advancing the quality of teacher education and subject-specific teaching and learning. Anchored at the School of Education, the program aims to further strengthen this position by fostering exchange and collaboration across different subjects and disciplines. The program seeks to reflect both the specific characteristics and the shared dimensions of different disciplines and to establish an interdisciplinary research culture that transcends disciplinary boundaries.
