Accommodation in Salzburg

The University of Salzburg does not own any student residence halls and has no special agreements with accommodation providers. The International Relations Office can only help you in finding accommodation by providing the following information. We recommend exchange students to start looking for housing very early as finding a suitable place to stay can take plenty of time.

Note: The University cannot be held responsible for any problems arising from the below mentioned suggestions. Be careful not to fall victim to rental fraud with private landlords when making down payments.

Longer Term Accommodation

OeaD Student Housing

OeAD student housing, especially in charge for exchange and international students, arranges accommodation in ten different student halls of residence with different room categories and rental prices. The rooms are fully furnished; additional furnishings may vary. You should inform yourself on booking conditions and may register online using the  website as early as possible. This service is NOT free of charge.

Important!

  • Students can early register with OeAD student housing as uploading an acceptance letter/e-mail by the International Relations Office is sufficient at the beginning of the process
  • The registration for accommodation can only be processed after payment of the registration fee.
  • The booking is only binding after payment of the deposit. The deposit must be received in full. Possible bank charges must therefore be taken into account during payment.

Temporary or short-term accommodation

Note for exchange students: If you don’t find suitable accommodation by means of the above mentioned services, you can of course come to Salzburg and stay in a youth hostel for the first few days. You are likely to find a room in a shared appartment on the spot upon arrival. Although it might seem to be a risky method of searching for accommodation that late, most students finally succeed in finding a suitable place.

Youth Hostels

If you need temporary housing prior to moving into your confimed accommodation, the local youth hostels are an inexpensive alternative to hotels.
