Jean Monnet Lecture by Sigrid Stagl (WU Wien)
9 June 2026 at 6:15PM (on-site, Europasaal HS 240 / Edmundsburg, 18:15-19:15) | Sigrid Stagl (WU Wien) will give a public lecture on Europe’s dependence on fossil imports, which cause inflation, capital outflows, and geopolitical vulnerability: “Mit der Physik wirtschaften: Systemische Effizienz als Grundlage für Wettbewerbsfähigkeit in unsicheren Zeiten”. The lecture will be held in German and will be followed by a discussion with the audience.

Last week, Assistant Professor Simone Häckl discussed the importance of parental beliefs for children’s educational outcomes in the NOeG blog “Der ökonomische Blick” in Die Presse. She also shared insights from her research in the podcast “Zukunft MI(N)Tgestalten”. Her findings suggest that even a simple information intervention about STEM careers can increase parents’ willingness to invest in their children’s interest in STEM.
