As part of the 20th anniversary of the development policy university weeks in Salzburg, the event series established at the University of Salzburg is being presented under a new name – Global ConnAct. This is a series of events that Südwind has been organizing in cooperation with the University of Salzburg for over 40 years at approximately two-year intervals. Based on the approach of focusing on visionäres Denken und Handeln (visionary thinking and action), a diverse program was developed in 2025 that examines the topic from various perspectives.

Over a period of three weeks, around 16 events will take place in Salzburg with high-profile guests from Austria and abroad: The lectures, discussions, films, seminars, and workshops at the university, in cafés, or at other locations are open to everyone. Topics to be discussed include sustainable tourism, global nuclear development, reporting on the Global South, threats to democracy, climate activism, and more. The Right Livelihood Award winners Helena Norberg-Hodge (online) and Mycle Schneider, as well as Payal Parekh, Patrick Bond, and Shruti Patel are among the guests in Salzburg.
