The University of Salzburg is pleased to welcome the  Austrian International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis Committee (IIASA) for a day of scientific exchange and dialogue. The event will focus on current research topics, interdisciplinary collaboration, and future opportunities for cooperation.

For decades, IIASA has brought together researchers from different disciplines and countries to develop solutions to complex global challenges. The Austrian IIASA Committee serves as an important link between IIASA and the Austrian scientific community, fostering scientific exchange and promoting collaboration across disciplines and institutions.

Afternoon Programme at the Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences

In the afternoon, a public session will take place at the Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences (DAS), to which researchers, academic staff, students and all interested members of the public are warmly invited. The programme will open with a joint welcome address by DAS Dean Stefan Lang and Christian Koeberl from the IIASA Committee.

This will be followed by a keynote lecture by Joint Professor Dimitris Simos entitled “Frontiers of Resilience”, offering insights into current questions and perspectives in resilience research. The subsequent discussion will provide an opportunity for participants to engage with the speakers and the IIASA delegation.

A further focus of the afternoon will be the opportunities available to researchers and students at IIASA. In the session “Opportunities at IIASA”, Fabian Wagner will present ways of becoming involved with the international research institute and contributing to its research activities. This will be followed by “Insights into the YSSP Program: A 2026 Cohort Perspective”, in which Samantha Knights will share insights into the Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) from the perspective of the 2026 cohort.

Students and early-career researchers in particular who would like to learn more about opportunities at IIASA and the YSSP programme are warmly encouraged to attend the public afternoon session.
