Martin Weichbold and Reinhard Bachleitner have published an anthology “ Das befragte Gedächtnis: Die Methodik sozialwissenschaftlicher Befragung im Lichte neurokognitiver Erkenntnisse“, which focuses on memory and the process of remembering. These two central elements in social science survey procedures are rarely discussed fundamentals in the otherwise widely debated methodology of surveying. This anthology attempts to provide insights into their significance. In addition to fundamental aspects such as the storage and retrieval of information, which are subject to various endogenous and exogenous influences, initial empirical studies on a memory-related perspective in surveys are presented.
