ÖGH Science Prize awarded to Dr Lahnsteiner
At the annual meeting of the Austrian Society of Human Genetics (ÖGH), our colleague Dr. Angelika Lahnsteiner received the ÖGH Science Award on Friday, 25 September. The award recognizes her research on how genetic risk variants associated with metabolic diseases can alter DNA structure and thereby influence gene expression. Her work highlights that, when assessing the functional impact of genetic variants, it is not only important to consider where in the genome a variant is located, but also how it changes DNA folding and, in turn, gene regulation.
Congratulations! 🎉👏
