Karolina Rütten (PIK-RD5, University of Potsdam) visits the Department of Economics
Karolina Rütten visits the Economics Department until December 2025. She is a doctoral student at the University of Potsdam and at Research Department 5 of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany. Her research focuses on the distributional impacts and public acceptance of climate policy instruments, using survey experiments. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Humboldt University Berlin.

Jörg Paetzold and Jakob Losert from our Department published a blog contribution on the effects of free public transport on the mobility behavior of people in “Die Presse – Der ökonomische Blick”: “Freie Fahrt für alle: Was kostenlose Öffis mit unserem Mobilitätsverhalten machen (Free Ride for All: How Free Public Transportation Affects Our Mobility Behavior)”. This blog post describes their current research project which investigates whether free public transport can help facilitate a switch from individual transport (e.g. cars) to public transport (e.g. bus or rail).
