Inside, people who quietly disappear—or can’t move in at all. We talk about gentrification as a permanent state: sometimes loud, sometimes in the fine print, rarely on election posters.

We travel from Bremen, Freiburg, Leipzig, and Nuremberg to Salzburg’s Andräviertel district and come away with three takeaways: gentrification continues, political discourse plays a decisive role, and “protecting a neighborhood” is not the same as “securing housing.”
