Podcast | The new academic year 2025/26 with a breath of fresh air, new voices, and exciting topics!

The  SICHTBAR HÖRBAR podcast from the Department of Sociology and Social Geography at the University of Salzburg is kicking off the new academic year 2025/26 with a breath of fresh air, new voices, and exciting topics. In the opening episode, Tanja and Holger look ahead together: What can we expect this season? The answer: a whole lot! From bodies, media, and fashion to mental health in higher education to questions of inclusion, urban development, and visibility in science. Guests include Kornelia Hahn and Martin Stempfhuber, who talk about body image and social media, as well as representatives from the Psychological Counseling Service, the Disability & Diversity Department, and researchers such as Stefanie Hürtgen, Christian Smigiel, Kyoko Shinozaki, and Dženeta Karabegović, who share their perspectives on the city, memory, migration, and academic work.

In addition to the thematic outlook, the department itself will also introduce new faces – from teaching assistants to doctoral candidates and professors. The podcast shows once again how versatile sociology and social geography are in Salzburg – research-oriented, audible, and at the heart of everyday life. An invitation to listen in, think further, and join the discussion – because what does visibility in science mean if no one is listening?

As always, the podcast is available on  Spotify,  Apple Podcasts and  Amazon Music.
