Programme Overview

13:15 – 14:45 | Researching Visual Gendered Hate Online: Challenges and Rewards

Building on a decade of collaborative research, this event will focus on the pitfalls and successes of researching visual gendered hate online from a media and communications perspective and via a feminist approach. There will be space to share good research practices, as well as to discuss ways to improve existing research protocols that, while allowing compliance with institutional frameworks, may also constrain or counteract a feminist research ethos.

The event will close with a soft launch of the book “Visual Misogyny: Platformed Politics of Visual Gendered Hate” (Emerald), co-authored by Dr. Patricia Prieto-Blanco and Dr. Suay Melisa Özkula.

About the Speaker
