Melina Fischer joined the department of Sociology and Social Geography in March 2024. She is enrolled in a Ph.D. study focusing on critical whiteness studies and migration. Her interdisciplinary academic background consists of International Relations and Social Sciences, which she studied at the University of Erfurt in Germany (BA.), and Cultural Anthropology with the focus on socio-cultural transformation from Utrecht University in the Netherlands (M.Sc.).

Her research interests include intersectionality, critical whiteness studies, de-colonial studies, ethnography, and critical humanitarianism.
