Knut Petzold is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography. His expertise lies in the areas of social structure analysis, social inequality, and theory-driven research designs with a specific focus on contemporary methods of causal inference. His current research interests cover higher education and work, mobility and migration, ethnic discrimination, social norms, and experimental designs in sociology. He holds a doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Leipzig (2011), received a postdoctoral graduation (habilitation) in sociology from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (2019) and is a Professor of Methods of Empirical Social Research at the Zittau/Goerlitz University of Applied Sciences (since 2020).
