What will I learn?
Medical biology encompasses all biological content that is essential to our understanding of human health and disease. This ranges from the small-scale structure of the cell to organs and organ systems to the biology of complex human interactions. Students receive a well-founded scientific and experimental-analytical education in biomedically relevant subjects as well as basic specialist knowledge in mathematics, chemistry and physics. After graduation, this allows you to start a career in many areas of biomedicine, the pharmaceutical industry, administration and consulting. Building on this, a large number of special training courses with a focus on biological basic and applied research can be added, in particular a specific master at PLUS in this subject.

What makes Salzburg so special as a place to study?
In addition to the high-quality training, the study plan scores with small group sizes and thus more intensive supervision in the practical courses. We provide sufficient places for compulsory courses, which means that there are almost no waiting times and study delays.

Which career opportunities do I have?
With the solid and combinational education in biolgical and analytical subjects, students acquire a set of tools which will allow them to meet the challenges of modern professional life. Graduates can choose from a broad variety of careers in private and public enterprises and institutions. Occupations for graduates in Molecular Biosciences include research in the fields of pharmacy and biomedics, biotechnology, biological and environmental analysis, and medical-diagnostic analysis. There is also a range of possible occupations in the fields of healthcare, medicine and environment, as well as in public administration and adult education.
