What will I learn?
In the MSc degree course in Informatics, students gain further competences in the field of informatics and its areas of application. On the basis of scientific findings, the obligatory modules impart state-of-the-art methods and techniques in important core areas. Students can choose to specialize in either formal subjects (e.g., higher mathematics, theoretical informatics) or subjects focused on practical experience (e.g., data bases, software techniques, software systems). Modules of application (e.g., geoinformatics, bioinformatics, information law, multimedia, image processing, data analysis, geometric computing) and optional modules allow students to specialize according to their individual interests.

What makes Salzburg so special as a place to study?
In the MSc course in Informatics at the University of Salzburg, students acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also learn about methods and concepts independent from the technical state of the art. Thus, students will be excellently prepared for their future careers. The flexible module system allows students to gain qualifications in those areas they are interested in the most. Students learn to apply their theoretical competences practically when they set up realistic projects or spend work placements in the industry. An excellent student-to-staff ratio in one of the world’s cities with the highest quality of living round off the course’s profile.
