Iepke Rijcken joined the Sociology Department in June 2022. She enrolled in a Ph.D. position that is anchored in the project “VISION: Envisioning Convivial Europe”. VISION is a collaborative project between established researchers based at DeZIM Institute (Berlin), the University of Amsterdam, and Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. The VISION project focuses on transnational labour migration and aims to generate transformative knowledge of a more just, sustainable, and convivial Europe. Iepke uses ethnographic and visual participatory research methods to gain a deeper understanding of people’s lifeworlds in ‘inner-peripheries’ in Germany and Poland.

Iepke completed a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and a master’s in Cultural Anthropology both at the University of Utrecht. Her research interests are rooted in power relations, intersectionality, and feminist theory.
