Welcome to ATHENA – Salzburg Center for Intersectional Research

ATHENA – Salzburg Center for Intersectional Research is a pioneering interdisciplinary hub dedicated to advancing intersectional gender research across the social sciences, humanities, arts, natural and digital sciences. Our mission is to foster innovative empirical, theoretical, and arts-based approaches that deepen understanding of gender, diversity, equality, and social transformation. ATHENA supports collaboration across disciplines, nurtures early-career scholars, builds strategic partnerships, and serves as a national knowledge hub for social innovation and evidence-based policy dialogue.
