24 September to 8 December 2026 | Online: The CIVIS partner universities once again invite participants to join online language cafés for Romance, Slavic and Nordic languages. These free events promote plurilingualism, intercultural exchange and the practical use of language skills in an international environment. The language cafés are organised by Språkstudion at Stockholm University and the Language Centre of the University of Salzburg within the framework of the CIVIS University Alliance. The Romance Language Café is additionally organised in cooperation with the University of Thessaly.

20 and 21 November 2026 | In-person: Abstracts for talks and posters may be submitted until 1 October. The Austrian Linguistics Conference (ÖLT) has a long tradition of promoting open academic exchange between the various fields of linguistics. The 50th ÖLT in Salzburg will continue this tradition and provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of a wide range of research interests and areas of work in historical, general, descriptive and applied linguistics.

The University of Salzburg’s Language Centre is offering an attractive programme once again in the coming winter semester with courses in 12 different languages and many special course, including Academic skills (in German and English), Business English, Learning Romance languages through networking, Language and culture and Intercultural communication. The programme is complemented by attractive additional services such as the tandem exchange programme, the Language Meetup, and language learning advising, which is integrated into the course “Learning adivice for all languages”. The course programme is available online on the Language Centre’s website and in printed form at the Language Centre from August and at various organisational units from September.
