Why “Men for Equality?”? What is the event about?
The title is deliberately phrased as a question. The event addresses a central issue:
What is needed to involve (more) men in gender equality work at our university? And beyond that: How can measures be designed that actually lead to sustainable change?
As part of the course “Men for Equality? Legislative Theatre”, students are developing a performance that aims at making hidden institutional dynamics visible. This event is supported by a team of decision makers and policy experts:
- Prof. Michaela Rückl (VR for Education and Student Experience),
- Dr. Marianne Schulze (Chair of the University Council),
- Marie Stenitzer (Chair of the Austrian Students’ Union/ÖH) & Feminist Policy Office
- Mag. Ines Grössenberger (Chamber of Labour / AK Salzburg)
- Dr. rer. soc. oec. Katharina Obenholzner, BA MA MA (Public Employment Service /AMS Salzburg).
The dialogue with these decision-makers and policy experts, student representatives, and the audience will result in a policy report, where course participants will also develop concrete evidence-based recommendations for action at the University of Salzburg to support the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality), which is the prerequisite for achieving all other SDGs.
