WLAN

Free Wi-Fi is available to users at all library locations.

Teachers, students, and staff

If you want to connect to the Wi-Fi, use “Eduroam” (SSID: eduroam). If you have connection problems, please use the Eduroam Installer:  https://cat.eduroam.org

Important: When logging in, always use your user name ending in @sbg.ac.at. The user name is the same one you use to log in to university PCs or to PLUS-Online (e.g., your s-number if you are a student). The password is also the same. If you have any questions, please contact the information desk at the respective library.

General users
  • Information about Wi-Fi access for general library users is available at our information desks.

Remote access (VPN)

The University Library offers all students and employees of the University of Salzburg the opportunity to access licensed e-resources via VPN access even from outside the university network.

Students

VPN access for students allows them to use licensed online resources (literature databases, eBooks, eJournals, etc.) of the University Library even when outside the university network, provided that this is permitted under licensing law.

NOTE: VPN access only allows secure use of restricted university or library services. Normal, unrestricted web surfing or connecting to internal university services (e.g., network shares) is not possible.

Faculty and staff

The University of Salzburg provides its employees with VPN access, enabling them to work from computers that are not connected to the university network as if they were at their workplace at the university.

NOTE: VPN access for employees has now also been converted to two-factor authentication (method: authentication app).

You can find information on installing/configuring VPN access at:   IT information portal VPN access (access with account for students or employees)
