Research: I research how sensory information shapes own-body perception and, in reverse, how perceptual body representations guide sensory processing. My focus is on touch perception and its interplay with other sensory modalities (e.g., vision) as well as perception of space, and motor processes. A key method are bodily illusions and their assessment using psychophysics and psychophysiology. Another research interest are special populations in whom body representations or sensory processes are altered, for example, amputees with phantom phenomena or people suffering from chronic pain.
