Research Interests:
I am interested in the intricate interplay between DNA secondary structures, such as G-quadruplexes and R-loops, and DNA methylation. My research focuses on elucidating how these structural elements influence methylation patterns and how these patterns are altered in various diseases. Furthermore, we seek for new methods in detecting these structural elements, why we developed together with Prof. Makova PDAL-Seq ( https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38521584/). Of particular interest is the investigation of whether differential methylation and G-quadruplex formation sites are present early in disease progression, especially in metabolic diseases, potentially even before the onset of cancer. This exploration could unveil critical biomarkers and therapeutic targets for early disease detection and intervention.
