The objective of the doctoral program in economics is in particular the further development of the ability to conduct independent scientific work. Proof of this is the writing of a dissertation as an independent scientific achievement. The doctoral program in economics builds on the knowledge of scientific theory gained in the bachelor’s and master’s programs in law and economics and serves to deepen the student’s knowledge of specific topics while at the same time perfecting the student’s methodology. The standard duration of study is 6 semesters; upon completion, the academic degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences (Dr. rer. oec.) is awarded.
