The Centre for Citizen Science was established in June 2015 by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy at the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD). It serves as an information and service hub for researchers, citizens, as well as experts from various disciplines. Furthermore, the centre acts as a programme coordinator, for example for the Top Citizen Science funding initiative and the Citizen Science Award. More information about the centre can be found at:

The Wissenstadt Salzburg is an initiative by the City of Salzburg aimed at supporting and connecting knowledge institutions. Its goal is to make the diverse knowledge of individual institutions more visible and accessible to citizens. This is achieved through innovative event formats, public outreach, and collaborations. Culture and knowledge go hand in hand in Salzburg, fostering the city’s creativity and innovative capacity.

The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) is a non-profit organization that promotes the growth of the citizen science movement in Europe in order to encourage public participation in scientific processes. It does so primarily by initiating and supporting citizen science projects as well as advancing research in this field. ECSA adopts an open and inclusive approach, for example by supporting and engaging in research, design, and development of the various aspects of the citizen science movement, improving its understanding and use for decision-making. ECSA brings together more than 200 individual and organizational members from over 28 countries within the European Union and beyond. Founded during the EU Green Week in June 2013, ECSA has evolved from an informal network of researchers and communicators interested in citizen science into the European reference network for citizen science initiatives.
