Roland Geisberger

Roland Geisberger, Priv.-Doz. Dr.
Expertise: B lymphocytes and B cell leukemia, germinal centers, somatic hypermutation and class switch recombination, mouse models

Geisberger lab: Tumor Immunology
Research interest: In our lab, we are interested in how genomic information is maintained versus diversified in context of cancer and how this may impact visibility to the immune system. Our research covers (off-target) mechanisms of antibody diversification, RNA-editing, DNA repair and cancer-immune interactions.

My younger self: As a PhD student, you need the unconditional enthusiasm to dig into a research topic, the curiosity for the unknown and the urge to tell stories from acquired scientific results.

What a PhD student can expect from me: Students can expect full support within a team with flat hierarchies, frequent informal meetings and open scientific discourse. Access to state-of-the-art technologies and research topics with high medical need and translational impact.

My favourite lab tool: At our institute, we luckily have available state-of-the-art instruments  for (sc)RNA/DNA-seq or imaging mass cytometry and we are well equipped for any kind of biochemical, molecular- or cell-biological analyses, which we use to answer our scientific questions.
