| Topic/Title | A new take on the musical in the BBC series “Blackpool” |
Abstract
The 2004 BBC series “Blackpool” spans the genres of musical, comedy, drama, thriller, and crime. The musical genre is incorporated into certain scenes, in which the protagonists lip-sync to well-known popular songs and, at times, dance. The songs span the genres of rock, pop, and country. Each song is divided among the protagonists, and depending on how it is used, it significantly influences the dramatic structure. The musical scenes have no impact on the series’ actual plot; they occur unexpectedly and suddenly.
