Seven steps for a successful application

  1. Choose a University from the list of partner universities.
  2. Contact the relevant coordinator (name appears in the list of partner universities).
  3. Assemble the relevant application documents for the study placement – in English or the native language of the host country and, if applicable, complete a language test (i.e. TOEFL, MELAB). After the selection has been made by the coordinator (nomination), the documents will be sent off to the partner university.
  4. Questions concerning accreditation – compile a list of the scheduled modules offered abroad. This can then be approved by the heads of the study commission at your faculty, so that the courses are guaranteed to be accredited to your study programme on your return.
  5. Finance: for recipients of a study grant – international grants offer; for other applicants – apply for the Joint Study grant in the International Relations Office. The rates differ according to the mobility destination.
  6. Wait until you receive the admission letter or “Aufnahmebestätigung”. After the official acceptance letter has been received: apply for a visa with the Foreign Representations of the relevant country; reserve accommodation on the partner university’s campus; book flight.
  7. (If applicable) submit the tuition waiver, as issued by the International Relations Office, in the Admissions Department. Further options for grants are available in the database created by the OeAD: www.grants.at.
