Regular Bank Account (Checking Account)

Depending on the purpose and length of your stay it might be convenient or necessary to have a bank account in Salzburg, or in any other country that takes part in SEPA. Salaries or scholarships are usually paid into an Austrian bank account. Therefore, we recomend to open a bank account at a local bank. This will include a bank card which allows you to withdraw money from automatic teller machines and pay in many stores without having to carry cash.
Salzburg offers a great variety of banks to choose from. Their services are very difficult to compare and the fees vary greatly; from € 0,00 up to € 200,00 per year. In addition there are several online banks available.
