Scholarships

Doctoral studies and postdoctoral positions at our faculty can be funded through scholarships/research projects upon application and approval. The topics must be in line with the scientific orientation of the department. Note: For many of the programmes listed below, it is not a requirement to be Austrian or to have lived in Austria.
Scholarships for doctoral students
- Doc-Stipendium by the ÖAW: € 49.080 per year, 24–36 months
- Marie Andeßner Scholarship by the University of Salzburg: € 23,600 per year, exclusively for female applicants, 12 months
- Ernst Mach Scholarship by the OEAD: € 1,300 per month, for doctoral students from abroad for a research stay in Salzburg, 1-9 months
- Marietta Blau-Stipendium by the OEAD: € 1,800 per month, for excellent doctoral students from Austria (scholarship abroad), 6-12 months
Scholarships for Postdocs
- APART-Stipendium by the ÖAW: € 86.496 per year, 36-48 months
- Ernst-Mach-Stipendium by the OEAD: € 1.300 per months, for Postocs from abroad for a research stay in Salzburg, 1-9 months
- START-Programm by the FWF: project funding from € 800.000 to max. € 1.200.000, 5 years
- Erwin-Schrödinger-Programm by the FWF: variable remuneration and one-off up to € 12,000, 10-36 months
- Elise-Richter-Stipendium by the FWF: variable remuneration and up to € 30,000 per year in project funding for women, 12-48 months
- Marie-Skłodowska-Curie-Stipendium by the EU-Commission: variable
