Study Supplement: ne(x)t work
Fostering entrepreneurial thinking
The interdisciplinary study supplement “ne(x)t work” supports students in developing these cross-disciplinary skills and preparing for a wide range of career paths. It also provides basic knowledge of entrepreneurship and starting a business and creates links to the Startup Point at the University of Salzburg, which supports students and researchers in developing and implementing their own business ideas.
The new structure places a stronger focus on connecting personal skills, problem-solving and an understanding of business and organisational contexts.
Three Areas – Diverse Skills
The study supplement combines three key areas:
Personal Development & Collaboration Self-leadership and self-organisation, communication, teamwork, personal strengths and career orientation.
Problem-Solving & Implementation Creative and analytical approaches, solution-oriented thinking and action, project planning and implementation skills.
Business & Organisation Understanding economic contexts, organisations and how they function, value creation and processes, as well as developing an entrepreneurial mindset.
How is “ne(x)t work” structured?
A total of 24 ECTS credits are required to complete the study supplement:
-
Basic Module – 12 ECTS: Courses from at least two of the three areas Personal Development & Collaboration, Problem-Solving & Implementation, and Business & Organisation.
-
Advanced Module – 12 ECTS: Advanced courses focusing on Business & Organisation.
This allows students to develop their personal and methodological skills while gaining an understanding of economic and organisational contexts and learning how to apply these skills in practical work and organisational settings.
Students who have already completed courses as part of the previous “Initiative Karrieregestaltung” or the “Startup School” Basic Module can continue to have these achievements recognised under the previous regulations. Certificates based on the previous regulations can still be issued until 30 September 2027.
