Everyone is talking about digitalization, but what does it actually mean?  

We look at digitalization in its entirety and ask: how, why and with what consequences is our everyday life digitalized? So we are not just looking at the technology, but at the connection between communication, spaces and technologies. Many factors are important here: such as organizations, systems, inequalities. These are factors that can be used to explain and, above all, analyse the digitalization of social life.   

If you are interested in such analyses of the consequences of digitalization, the Department of Sociology and Social Geography is the right place for you. This is not about what was previously known under rather abstract terms such as technology assessment, but about you, the society in which you find yourself and the ecological system that serves as the basis of life for this and other societies. These are serious and literally vital topics, but immersing yourself in our research is also an exciting adventure.
