McGeorge LLM and Study Abroad

Students at the University of Salzburg have the possibility to study abroad thanks to several agreements with European and U.S. American universities. These agreements make it possible to spend one or two semesters abroad on exchange, or to obtain an LL.M. degree. 

  • Erasmus agreements: The University of Salzburg has concluded numerous Erasmus + agreements as part of the European Union’s programme for education, training, youth and sport.   • University Exchange Programme: Further to this, the University has agreements with other partner universities around the world: University Exchange Programme at a Partner University
  • International Student Exchange Program: The University of Salzburg also participates in the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), which enables students to study at universities in the United States: International Student Exchange Programme (ISEP) 

 

LLM and Exchange programmes with McGeorge University and the University of Connecticut

Thanks to bilateral agreements, law students at the University of Salzburg have the opportunity to obtain an LL.M. degree, while paying reduced tuition fees at either the McGeorge School of Law (University of the Pacifiv, Sacramento, California) and the University of Connecticut (Hartford, Connecticut).

Univesity of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law

Students wishing to pursuefor an LL.M. programme (one full academic year, from mid-August to mid-May) at McGeorge may be eligible for a full tuition fee waiver.

Applications must include:

  • a motivation letter (maximum 2 pages) and 
  • an academic transcript 

These documents must be submitted by mid-February for studies starting in mid-August. Applications should be sent to Prof. Diane Fromage and Asoz. Prof. Günter Herzig.

Students are advised to check their University of Salzburg student email account regularly, as the official call for applications (with precise deadlines) is usually corculated by mid-January

Further Procedure: After the pre-selection phase, suggested candidates will be nominated to McGeorge School of Law, which will make the final selection

Undergraduate Exchange Semester: Students also have the option to participate in an undergraduate exchange semester at McGeorge (typically during the fall term, i.e. mid-August to December). In this case, a full tuition fee waiver ist granted. In this case, no diploma will be awarded for this programme 

 

University of Connecticut

Students wishing to study for an LL.M. programme at the University of Connecticut School of Law may be eligible for a tuition fee waiver of up to 50%

Applications must include: 

  • a motivation letter (maximum 2 pages) and 
  • an academic transcript 

These documents must be subtmitted by 15 March for the fall semester and by 15 Semester for the spring semester. Applications should be sent to Prof. Diane Fromage and Asoz. Prof. Günter Herzig.

Further Procedure: Following a pre-selection process at the University of Salzburg, recommended candidates will be nominated to the University of Connecticut, which will conduct the final selection. 

Exchange Semester Option: Students also have the opportunity to participate in an exchange semester at the University of Connecticut. In this case, a full tuition fee waiver is granted, but no LL.M. diploma from the University of Connecticut will be awarded, as is standard for exchange programmes. Students who wish to extend their stay to a second semester with the aim of obtaining an LL.M. degree may do so. In this case, they would be required to pay the regular (reduced) tuition fee
