Concept

The Annual Review of Social Work and Social Pedagogy in Austria – OeJS – has been published since 2019. The journal sees itself as a publication venue for professional and disciplinary discussions. It presents research results and topics from Austria and takes up international discourses. The aim of the Annual Review is to reflect developments in social work and social pedagogy at a scientifically high level and to further develop specialist discussions.

The OeJS only publishes original research contributions. All articles go through a double-blind peer review process.

Indexing

After passing the quality check on 16 November 2023, the OeJS was included in the directory of scientific journals of the Italian  ANVUR – The Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes for the subject areas 11 ‘ History, Philosophy and Pedagogy’ and 14 ‘ Political and Social Sciences’. Inclusion in the  DOAJ – Directory of Open Access Journals is planned.

[02 May 2025] We are pleased to announce the publication of Volume 7 (2025) of our journal “Annual Review of Social Work and Social Pedagogy in Austria” (OeJS). The focus is dedicated to the topic “Gender, Queerness and Social Work – Recent debates on the relationships between sexualities, power and domination”. A print version can be purchased in bookshops for 29.95 euros or directly from   Beltz Juventa Verlag. You have free access to the editorial, articles and book reviews via the  publisher’s website.

[08 May 2025] Call for Papers: The journal OeJS focuses on the theme “Disruptions of the social: (Anti-)democratic developments in social work contexts” in Volume 9 (Spring 2027). We welcome abstracts for general contributions and for articles related to the theme. Please submit your abstract by the deadline on 13 July 2025 to the editorial office at .
