Health and well-being in the workplace
The University of Salzburg is actively committed to the health and well‑being of its employees. Through a holistic health management approach, preventive services, and supportive measures, we create a working environment that promotes both physical and mental health.
Our benefits at a glance
-
Occupational psychological counselling centre
Employees of the University of Salzburg can make use of confidential occupational psychological counselling as part of the preventive hours stipulated by the Employee Protection Act. The University covers up to three counselling sessions per person per year. All sessions are anonymous and confidential in accordance with the Psychologists Act. Counselling takes place on site at AMD Salzburg (Elisabethstr. 2, 5020 Salzburg). -
BVAEB – statutory health insurance
All employees of the University of Salzburg are compulsorily insured with the BVAEB and can make use of additional health services from its extensive range of benefits. -
Occupational health management
The university’s health management programme “PLUSbewegt” is implemented jointly with the Occupational Medical Service, occupational safety, the Works Council for general staff, and the BVAEB. It includes lectures, workshops, training courses, and health days that promote health and well‑being in the workplace. -
First aid courses
Knowledge of first aid can be vital — useful not only at work but especially in everyday life. The University of Salzburg offers its employees free basic and refresher first aid courses (attendance during working hours is possible) if they agree to serve as first aid responders at the University of Salzburg. -
Vaccination campaigns
Vaccination campaigns are organised regularly — for example for flu vaccinations — by the works council in cooperation with the Occupational Medical Service. -
Conflict resolution through mediation
A respectful working environment is important to us. Through our mediation service, we support employees in resolving conflicts in the workplace. In externally facilitated processes, participants work together to develop sustainable and mutually accepted solutions – confidential, professional, and solution‑oriented. -
Participation through committees and initiatives
Salzburg Marathon
Under the motto “Uni läuft”, the University of Salzburg covers the participation fee for a large number of employees who would like to take part in the Salzburg Marathon/Salzburg Businessrun. You will also receive a running shirt so you can be easily recognised as part of the team – motivation included! -
Substance misuse issues
In cases of substance misuse issues in the workplace, the University’s internal intervention chain comes into effect. It provides a structured set of procedures for managers, affected individuals, and colleagues, as well as information on how to handle substance‑related illnesses – supported by the Occupational Medical Service and external occupational psychological counselling. -
Sport courses
As an employee of the University of Salzburg, you can register for USI courses before the official registration periods and benefit from discounted rates for sports and training programmes. In this way, we actively promote your physical activity and health.
-
Shiatsu days
Take advantage of the Shiatsu days at the University of Salzburg: around four low‑cost appointments are available each semester. Treat yourself to half an hour of Shiatsu – for relaxation and well‑being. -
UNIQA group insurance
Benefit from the UNIQA group insurance: as an employee of the University of Salzburg, you receive supplementary insurance at significantly reduced rates (20% cheaper) compared with individual policies. Consultation sessions take place 2–3 times per semester. -
Phased reintegration part‑time work
After longer periods of sick leave, employees with health‑related limitations have the option to return to work gradually. The reduced weekly working hours may last for up to six months, and the BVAEB covers the difference to the regular salary in the form of reintegration pay.
